Officially on the wait list for a 2022 XLT F-150 lightning. 0-60 in 4.5 and tows 10k+? Yes please, though not at the same time. Gonna have to come up with a new name for the “frunk” however, because eventually one of my friends is going to make a reference to FW being “Frunkytown” and then I will have to kill them....
...then toss the body...in the frunk.

Looks awesome.

Do you have any range anxiety for road trips?

Not concerned in general, but watching it. We go up 287 to NM/CO 1-2 times a year. With the regular battery and not towing they guesstimate a 230 mile range which makes Childress, which has the nearest 24/7 charging station on 287, very questionable. Will likely upgrade to the 300 mile battery anyway, but I totally expect Wichita Falls to get a 24/7 station soon. As popular as these are going to be (I think), we’ll almost certainly see a big uptick in charging stations. Interstates are already stacked with them.

now...towing a 7500-lb BBQ trailer to small towns along lesser travelled roads...yeah, that has me a bit concerned. And am hoping to use a 30amp from the truck to power the trailer for a day, too. If we don’t see a bunch of charging stations pop up, I may just buy a bigger generator, assuming you can charge the truck in an emergency that way. Still a lot of things to work out.

Agree there will be lots (infrastructure!) of charging options coming our way The DC fast chargers stilk estimate 45-60 minutes to refill and slower versions 3x that. 12+ hours AC charged.

As a "making time" road trip guy, I will struggle with having to stop down for 1-3 hours to wait and charge io ... Looks like Cracker Barrell is going to continue to kill it.

I know London, and that Devon is west of it near Cornwall somewhere, and that Roger Daltrey sang for The Who. Also very familiar with pubs in general. Beyond that, you’ve lost me.

Would’ve pissed off 25-year-old me - the same kid who viewed speed limits as a personal challenge. However, the (nearly) 50-year-old me doesn’t mind so much. I bet we see a new business model emerge that combines charging stations with several restaurant options, spas, light grocery...much like an airport terminal. And all about every 200 miles.

I hope not. I hope batteries go farther than that and recharge faster than that by then. If forced to convert right now I'd carry 3 extra batteries everywhere I went and just change out a battery rather than recharge every 250 miles. 40 year old me still couldn't handle all of those stops. Neither could 2, 4, and 8 year old Purp Pups.

clarkson was driving a volkswagon gulf and may was driving an electric bmw equipped with the ability to use power from a petrol range extender which will become important in a bit

around london, the bmw worked perfectly, but on the road to devon there were a few problems. first, the range of the vehicle wasn't as advertised and greatly impacted by driving habits and keeping the car under a certain speed limit.

second, there were issues with a few of the charging stations not being operational.

there is no doubt that the electrics are going to be a bigger and bigger part of the auto market, but remember that the range mentioned is often termed "targeted range", they don't always list the variables needed to achieve that maximum range, and these vehicles and the charging stations in large part are first generation technology

Moreover, as much as I hate my phone battery dropping below 80% I would definitely struggle with an electric car.

If my elec car had a 250 mile range I’d have to stop every 50 miles to be comfortable with my battery percentage.

I type this while taxiing on an American flight with a 20 percent charged phone battery because apparently American doesn’t prioritize things like charging ports on all of their flights. It would be nice to have options from DFW.

read an article that discussed things an owner can do to lengthen the life of the battery in their electric car.

one, which i think some here would struggle with, is to not charge your battery above 80%.

There’s always Spirit. Although I believe they charge a $15 consideration fee to think about using them.

The range while towing will be interesting (and I'm sure largely dependent on the payload). They're gonna sell as many of those things as they can make though.
